AI Policy Experts in India - Global South Governance & Accountability

*AI Governance Does Not End At Risk Mitigation* It's been a while since I've posted about my newsletter. Largely because I've been spending time writing for publications on multilingual AI, AI and SDG, and considering the legal nuances of using FRT's in government service delivery. This issue of the newsletter is short and snippy. It covers one major topic - Real world AI for impact deployments in India, you'll find names, numbers, and examples, of what has worked. I'm asking some basic questions here: What is a Global South model of AI governance? Whose democratic values should AI enshrine? What does AI accountability look like in India - does our current regulatory framework address this? If you have thoughts on any of these, please drop me a line. The next issue will dream of a Global South AI Governance framework (beyond the India AI Gov Guidelines) - Are we thinking about where is the most pressing need for AI impact assessments in India? Is algorithmic wage discrimination driving India's gig economy? or What algorithmic transparency means in practice - for the increasing number of justicetech applications in India? To be added to the distribution list, drop a comment here with the word "demystify" or DM me. Newsletter goes out this Wednesday.
