Backyard BBQ Hosts - Decline of Casual Summer Gatherings

Am I the only one noticing a decline in the casual summer backyard BBQ? You know the kind: last-minute text invites, paper plates, music in the background, people coming and going with no definitive start or end time. What changed? Did the younger generation just not pick up the baton (or the grill fork)? Or is it that every event has to be content-worthy?
