Car Dwellers in US - Documentary on Living in Vehicles

Looking for insights into car living in the US, filming a documentary series Hey everyone, I’m a videomaker from Amsterdam and currently working on a video series about dark tourism, where I explore different subcultures and lesser seen sides of life across the US. I’ll be traveling through the US throughout May, and one of the topics I’d really like to dive into is the world of car living. I’ve seen and heard a lot about people living in their cars, and I’m interested in exploring that in a real and respectful way. I’ll be starting in San Diego, but I’m definitely open to traveling to other cities if that’s where this is more present or accessible. I was wondering if anyone here is familiar with this scene, or knows people or specific areas where this is more common. Any tips, insights, or connections would be really appreciated.
