Colorado Freddi & Henchi Band Members - Music Scene 1960s-80s

Does anyone remember Freddi & Henchi / the Soulsetters? Hello! Bit of a random one, but I’m a radio producer from Melbourne, Australia, and I’ve somehow ended up very deep down a Colorado music-history rabbit hole! I came across Freddi “Love” Gowdy, Henchi Graves and the Soulsetters completely* *by* *accident, after hearing their song “I Am Somebody” in the show, hacks. I went looking for the song afterwards and realised there wasn’t even a proper Wikipedia page for the band, so I started digging. I eventually came across the Colorado Music Hall of Fame, which helped me piece together some of their history, but I’m still pretty confused about a lot of it, particularly the band’s different line-ups, what happened to the musicians over the years, what recordings and other material still exist, and where the people who were around them ended up. The more I’ve looked, the more fascinated I’ve become not just by Freddi and Henchi, but by the Colorado/Denver music scene surrounding them. I’m pretty interested in the whole story the musicians, venues, promoters, photographers, audiences and communities that made up that scene, and how Freddi & Henchi fit into it. I’m researching this for a potential radio/oral-history project and I’m hoping to find people who actually remember this period.. whether you were a musician, went to their shows, worked at a venue, photographed them, knew someone in the band, or were just around the Colorado music scene at the time. I’m particularly interested in: Freddi & Henchi and the Soulsetters / Freddi-Henchi Band the different musicians who played with them the Good Earth and other Colorado venues the wider Denver/Boulder music scene of the 1960s–80s photographs, flyers, posters, newspaper clippings, recordings or other memorabilia stories about the people and communities around the scene and anything that might help me understand what’s still out there, and who else I should talk to. I’m based in Australia, so I obviously wasn’t around for any of this. I’m really just trying to follow the threads from the other side of the world and understand the story from people who were actually there. I’m still very early in the research and I’m not trying to make any big claims about their history. I found something that fascinated me, realised there were still a lot of gaps in what I could find, and wanted to see whether anyone here remembers it firsthand. If Freddi & Henchi, the Soulsetters, the Good Earth, or the wider Colorado music scene from this period mean anything to you, I’d genuinely love to hear from you.
