the untold side of being an au pair
Hi everyone!
A friend and I are starting a book project about the real au pair experience, and we’re looking for people who’d be open to sharing their story.
The idea came from our own experiences and from realizing how much of au pair life often stays untold. People usually see the fun parts — the travel, the adventures, the cute moments with the kids or they hear the horror stories. But the truth is often somewhere in the middle.
Living in someone else’s home, becoming part of a family, but also working for them, loving the kids deeply, feeling homesick, lonely, overwhelmed, connected, needed, and sometimes completely lost, often all at once.
We want to talk about the honest side of it all. The beautiful parts, the messy parts, the hard parts, and the parts that change you.
If you’re a current or former au pair (or host family) and feel like sharing your experience, we created a short anonymous form you can fill out here: https://forms.gle/2mo6Lty8k3zTmt4p8
You can also message us on Instagram (untoldaupairstories) or send us an email ([email redacted]) if you prefer.
And if you know someone with a story worth telling, feel free to share this!
We’d really love to hear from you.
