NEW EDITION | THE LIVING BMP ARCHIVE πΆπ
What happens when the step show ends, Homecoming is over, and the letters you proudly wear become part of a lifelong story?
In our 19th Edition, When the Divine Nine Stepped Into the Soundtrack, we explore the Divine Nine as more than a familiar part of Black college culture. We look at more than a century of scholarship, service, leadership, brotherhood, sisterhood, rhythm, cultural memory, and community.
And this time, I'm opening my own Living BMP Archive. ππ€
I share why I deliberately waited until later in life to choose a Divine Nine organization, why I ultimately chose Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, and what the older "Zeta Ladies" taught me about what sisterhood can look like after 40 and 50 years.
This edition also asks an important preservation question:
What traditions are worth carrying forward?
Because preserving history does not mean perpetuating everything inherited.
π LIVING BMP ARCHIVIST ASSIGNMENT:
Do you have a Divine Nine photograph, program, pin, jacket, yearbook page, step-show memory, family story, or other artifact?
Find ONE. Learn its story. Preserve the names, place, date, and memory attached to it.
Not Divine Nine? You're still invited. Learn the history and explore where Black music, rhythm, movement, service, and cultural memory intersect.
Then tell me what you discovered. I really want to hear your stories. π¬
