Fans Experiencing Michosis - Re(mourning) Since Michael Film

Rewatched "Jacksons: An American Dream" to compare I found the US miniseries from 1992 at archive(dot)org, and watched it for the first time since it aired on ABC, so I wanted to share my thoughts having seen "Michael" three times ... First impression was, Wow -- they spent a ton of time with them as kids!! I think someone here stated that "Michael" spends 27 minutes with young MJ/J5; the miniseries spent well over 90 mins, so you got to see way more of their private lives and interpersonal struggles, esp their clashes with Joseph as they grew up and started wanting to date. Would've been cool to include in "Michael" some tour tidbits in the screen film like an exhausted young Michael wailing and refusing to board the plane for the next city, and them being run over by a tidal wave of fans. The miniseries' last third or so, when we get adult Michael, is where things kind of fell flat. Whereas the actor Jason Weaver brought energy, vocal talent (the miniseries used more of the actors' own voices than the movie) and natural charisma as young Michael, Wylie Draper (RIP) was an energy-sucking dud as adult Michael, honestly. I remember the fanfare at the time about his likeness to MJ and how he slayed the Motown 25 performance, when the miniseries was being promoted. But his acting was weak, and he almost never smiled or joked -- kind of really overworked the tortured artist angle. AND when the Motown 25 part came on, my husband -- who'd never seen the miniseries and was glad to be able to compare -- sat up and said, "Nope, Jaafar was better," lololol. Overall, it was a nice bit of nostalgia to see the miniseries again, but the two productions aren't even in the same universe to compare, imho. I def remembered the miniseries as better than it actually is (I'm older now, though, with higher standards lolol). The miniseries, obvi, had more time to unfurl Joe and Katherine's history and inner lives. You def see a more human side to Joe in the miniseries, which I wish we'd had more of in "Michael." But I have to say the performances in "Michael" are, hands-down, sharper, with more pizzazz, and they better capture that Jackson "it" factor. I wish the miniseries had used more actual Jacksons recordings, but it relied quite a bit on the actors' real voices, an interesting choice, esp since both productions were backed by the Jackson family. (One additional note: The Pepsi scene in the miniseries was laughably bad. Why'd they have him collapsing from the middle of the staircase and rolling down the rest of the way?! I was cackling.) Anyway, those are my thoughts! AMA! If you've seen both movies, which did you like best? And if you made it this far, have been suffering from "Michosis" and are open to talking about it, I'm writing a story for a major publication about the wave of re(mourning) for MJ since the movie opened. DM me if you'd be willing to be interviewed -- for the story, you can use your real name or your handle. TIA! ETA: In the miniseries, you see Bill Bray protecting the kids! But he had no lines, just was in the background. Also, they used REAL animals in the scenes that had animals, of course. I said to my husband, "See how easy it was to have a REAL Bubbles?!"
