Food Bank Users in Ottawa - Access Issues & Turnaways

Have you faced any issues accessing food banks in Ottawa? Hello! I’m currently working on an article/essay about the accessibility of food banks in Ottawa. Looking at Ottawa Food Banks’ published statistics, there has been an uptick in the amount of people accessing food banks because of the lack of affordability, inflation, etc since 2024. I’ve noticed that some food banks around the city have limited hours, require id, proof of address etc. Have you been turned away from food banks when you needed food? There’s been recent situations where food banks have turned away people and students because they aren’t able to keep up with the demand they’re facing. I don’t have a clear focus to my article and I’m willing to speak to anymore to get a sense of direction and specific story to focus on. Pls DM or comment!
