Former LDS Missionaries - Sent To Countries Banning Proselytizing
Looking for stories of people who served missions in places that it is not legal to proselytize.
Hello! I am seeking stories to compile into a journalistic-type piece to shine some light on the falsehoods within the lds church. I have a close friend that has major permanent physical damage and severe PTSD from his mission in Cambodia but the church has never taken any accountability for this happening. I am passionate about this and hope to share other's accounts to open people's eyes to this. These things are completely avoidable and irresponsible on the lds church's part. I hope that in my lifetime changes can be made to protect the young missionaries other than their garments and the holy ghost.
I have heard a lot of good and bad missionary tales from all over the world; but recently I learned that some people were sent to countries under the guise of something other than proselyting (tourist visa, mutual aid society, volunteers, etc.) and were coached to lie about why they were truly in the country and to hide their nametags. I know that the lds church is totally fine putting young kids in dangerous situations on missions and am not shocked that fudging/falsifying documentation has/is going on. Does anyone have experiences like this? Ex or current mission presidents, ex/current mormon members, family members of someone that this happened to. I would love to hear from you! Obviously don't need names or any info besides what you recall from your mission. Any stories can be emailed to: [email redacted]
