Communication is not a meeting strategy. It’s an implementation system. We’ve all seen it. More meetings. More status reports. More emails. And somehow, a critical dependency is still missed, a decision doesn’t reach the right team, or a site approaches go-live without being truly ready. In Edition #2 of Healthcare Implementation, I take a closer look at Project Communication—the highest-priority Critical Success Factor identified in my research with 102 healthcare technology implementation professionals. But the takeaway isn’t that we need to communicate more. We need to communicate better—and by design. I explore five functions that I believe turn communication into implementation infrastructure: Alignment → Visibility → Decision-Making → Escalation → Adoption When these work together, communication does more than keep people informed. It helps make risks visible, decisions actionable, dependencies understood, and readiness measurable. And ultimately, it helps create the conditions for sustainable adoption.
