Indian Students Abroad - Higher Education Journeys & Reinvention
For the past several years, I have had a front-row seat to one of the most fascinating journeys unfolding in modern India. Every year, thousands of young people leave home to pursue higher education abroad. Yet behind every destination lies a story.
A student whose journey began with an overnight train long before it ever reached an airport. A family learning to let go. A dream university that wasn't what it seemed.
A departure, a disappointment, a reinvention.
I am currently researching a narrative nonfiction book, tentatively titled The Leaving Generation — the stories of a generation leaving home in pursuit of education, opportunity, and identity, and their search for belonging in a world far from home.
If you or someone you know has a story that belongs in these pages, I'd love to hear from you. Email me at [email redacted]
All conversations will be confidential and exploratory.
