LGBTQ+ People & Allies in Greater Lansing - Oral Histories & Memories

Help preserve local LGBTQ+ history in Lansing. The Lansing Queer Almanac is collecting oral histories, memories, artwork, photographs, poetry, and reflections from LGBTQ+ people and allies throughout Greater Lansing. So far, we have published two community stories and shared articles exploring local LGBTQ+ life, history, people, and events. This is only the beginning, and we need your help to preserve more of our community’s history. We want to hear about: 🏳️🌈 Growing up LGBTQ+ in the Lansing area 🏳️🌈 Friendship, love, support, and chosen family 🏳️🌈 Local gathering places and organizations 🏳️🌈 Pride, protest, advocacy, and community building 🏳️🌈 People, places, and events that should be remembered 🏳️🌈 Everyday queer life, past and present Join us for a community storytelling gathering: 📅 Saturday, September 26 at 11:00 AM 📍 Everybody Reads 2019 East Michigan Avenue, Lansing No professional writing or public-speaking experience is needed. Your story can be funny, difficult, hopeful, unfinished, or anything in between. You may use your name, a pseudonym, or remain anonymous. Everyday stories matter.
