Where in LA can I find people open to sharing personal stories for a documentary interview? Hi everyone. I’m working on a small documentary interview program in Los Angeles called The Road Ahead, and I’m trying to figure out the best way to find people who may be open to sharing one personal story on camera. Each episode is built around one interview with a real person about one difficult period in their life: what happened, how they went through it, what helped them move forward, where it led them, and where they are now. The purpose of the program is to help people who may be going through depression, loneliness, stress, loss, financial problems, family problems, burnout, anxiety, a difficult childhood, immigration struggles, or any other hard period in life feel less alone, hear a real story from someone who has been through a difficult time, and maybe see that a way forward is possible. I’m looking for strong human stories from different kinds of people. For example, it could be teachers, veterans, healthcare workers, people connected to foster care or adoption, animal rescue/shelter workers, or anyone who has been through a meaningful difficult period and found a way forward. Do you know any local LA groups, organizations, communities, or people who might be open to being a guest for this kind of interview program? Or do you have any advice on where I could respectfully reach out? I’m not asking anyone to share a full story here. I’m just looking for advice on where to find the right people and how to approach them properly.
