Middle-Class Women Tier-2 Indian Cities - Formal Jobs & Economic Share

Hello! I’m working on a business case exploring why Indian women in the formal economy may not be getting their due share of the economic gains India has seen over the past couple of decades. As part of this, I’m particularly interested in a group whose stories I feel are underrepresented in these conversations: middle-class women in Tier 2 urban cities, working in government, teaching, or other formal-sector jobs. If you fit this profile, I would love to speak with you—not just about your work, but about the everyday dilemmas you navigate: How do you balance work, family, and expectations around you? What choices have you had to make to sustain your career? Do you feel economically independent? Do you feel recognised for your contribution? And perhaps most importantly, do you feel like a stakeholder in the economic growth India has experienced over the last couple of decades? I’m especially keen to hear stories that don’t usually make it into conversations about women and the economy. I also have a personal reason for wanting to do this. I realised that I don’t actually have anyone fitting this description in my own circle—which is perhaps, in itself, a small commentary on my own insularity.
