Oakland Black Firefighters - Documentary on Station Life & History

I’m a Black firefighter, document a black firefighters across the country. This is Oakland. Firefighter paramedic and documentary photographer working on a long-term project called the color fire documenting black firefighters across the country. This chapter brought me to Oakland in San Francisco, which keeps pulling me into this project isn’t just the apparatus or the calls, it’s the people, station life history, relationships, pride, mentorship, and all the moments most people never get to see from the inside of the fire service, Oakland was an important piece of that story. I’d especially love to hear from Oakland firefighters, families, and anyone who knows more about the history of black firefighters in the town. @rj43mm
