What's a despicable act that the Catholic church keeps doing these days?
All the criticism I hear lately is about the systematic covering of sexual abuse from priests, but as far as I know, I hear more and more news of this issue being tackled by them. I'm sure that they still cover many of them, but maybe to a lesser degree, like this is becoming a thing of the past.
My question is not what the catholic church has done wrong in the past, we all know a ton of things. I would also love a quantifiable estimate, like how many deaths do they cause (by enabling the spread of AIDS, for example), or how many lives do they make miserable. I am aware that not everything is quantifiable, I'm interested in anything you see as immoral.
Bonus question: I know it is a dumb question, but I'm genuelly interested in the good and the bad. Do you think that these despicable acts are somewhat "outweighted" by the amount of charity carried by the Church (being suposedly the largest, non-governmental provider of healthcare worldwide)?
I ask because the comment I aaalways get when I'm telling them how messed up amb immoral the Catholic Church is, is the charity card.
Thank you. I'm gathering information and sources for an article I'm working on for my local community, so sources are always appreciated.
