[NO] We want your input on onboarding
Hey folks π
We're working on an article about what actually separates a great onboarding from a mediocre one. Quick disclosure: we make HR software (Huma), but this post isn't a pitch. We just figured before we write what we think works, it'd be smarter to hear from people who've actually lived it.
So:
What made you feel welcome when you started a new job? Was it something your manager said or did on day one? A buddy who genuinely followed up? Lunch with the team that wasn't the awkward "tell us about yourself" round?
Or flip it, what's made you think "okay, this is a rough start"? We learn just as much from what didn't work.
Looking for the concrete stuff. The small things that made a big difference. A welcome email that read like a human wrote it. A workstation that was actually ready when you walked in. Someone bothering to explain how the coffee machine works (criminally underrated).
If we end up quoting anything from this thread, we're happy to credit your username or keep it anonymous, totally your call.
Thanks in advance, looking forward to reading π
