Religious Studies Scholars - Ancestral Spirits, Digbandhana, Guruthi

Questions regarding controlling spirits and changing bloodlines Hi everyone! I hope this is the right place. I am doing research for a story and I appreciate it if you can answer these questions. \[Context: The story involves ancestral spirit who's powerful and someone attempts to control her and in turn change the bloodline of the family\] \* How are deities, guardian spirits and even ancestral spirits viewed and worshipped? Can they be controlled to do someone's bidding? If so, what can be the possible consequences? What will happen if the ancestral soul becomes displeased ? \* What is digbandhana in ritual context? Is it symbolic protection of space or literal containment? Is binding ever applied to spirits, or only to energies within a ritual field? What are the ethical boundaries around binding practices? \* Are there any rituals involving lineage (can be ancestral veneration or something else)? Does birth order matter in such rituals? If the birth order does matter, then what happens if someone else steps in to do the ritual? How to know if the ritual is successful or not and what happens then? Is there any ritual to change the lineage or the line? \* Is it possible to misuse ancestral blessings? Are there stories of people attempting to manipulate ancestral spiritual forces for personal gain? \* How is blood (guruthi) used in the worship of deities and spirits? \* Also what does giving "nele" or space to the ancestral spirit mean? I want to know more about controlling spirits and rituals (if any) involved with lineages and bloodlines. I appreciate your help. Thank you!
