Senior Developers & Engineering Managers US - Lead vs Hands-On

⚡ I had another Lightning talk ready to give at #DjangoConUS today but the slots filled up before I could grab one, so I'm sharing it here instead. Disclaimer, I love the Jack Reacher stories and have read all the books, the slides are based on the book covers and I was going to make some icebreaking jokes about this in the lightning talk. The talk was going to be discussing the conversation that comes up again and again when I'm speaking to developers about their careers and reasons for starting job searches. Somewhere around the Senior Developer level role everyone hits a fork in the road (like Reacher does 👀) and has to choose if they want to Lead/Mentor people, or stay hands on in the code. It's a big decision and there's no obvious place to hear how other people have navigated it. So I'm starting a podcast about exactly that and I'm starting to look for my first guests. I want to speak to anyone who's stood at that fork, learn whichever way you went, or if you even switched back later. These early recordings will shape the show and they're a chance to pass on what you learned to the people about to face the same decision process. It's early days and I'm figuring it out as I go which is half the fun!! I'd especially love to hear from senior developers and engineering managers in the US.
