Taurus Owners & Mechanics - Why Ford Stopped Making Taurus
I don’t hand out a 9.8 very often.
But I LOVE this car.
I’ve been in the car business for more than 20 years, and sometimes I get into a vehicle and wonder:
Why did they stop making this?!
That’s exactly how I feel about the Ford Taurus.
This 2019 Taurus Limited just checks almost every box for me.
It’s BIG. It’s comfortable. It has a great road presence. I love the way it drives, I love the way it looks, and this Limited is absolutely loaded.

The leather even feels GOOD.
That’s something that doesn’t show up on a spec sheet. You sit in this car and it just feels substantial.
So why only a 9.8 instead of a 10?
Because Ford made an AWD version — and then there’s the Taurus SHO.
The SHO took this big sedan and gave it a 365-horsepower twin-turbo EcoBoost V6 with AWD.
THAT’S the Taurus I need to drive next. 😂
But here’s where I need the car people.
Why did Ford stop making the Taurus?
I understand the business side. The market moved heavily toward SUVs and trucks, and manufacturers followed the customer.
But actually driving one of these makes me wish big American sedans like this still had a place in the market.
So I want the REAL reviews.
🔧 MECHANICS: How are these long-term? What breaks? What should owners watch for? Are there particular years, engines or configurations you’d recommend or avoid?
🚘 TAURUS OWNERS: How many miles did you put on yours? What did you love? What did you hate? Would you buy another one tomorrow?
And if anybody owns a Taurus SHO…
I REALLY want to hear from you.
My experience is one drive.
Your experience might be 150,000 miles.
That’s why I do these reviews. I can tell you what I see after 20+ years in the business, but I also want to learn from the people who have lived with these cars and the mechanics who actually work on them.
For this one?
9.8/10.
One of my highest OneDrive scores yet.
Ford…bring the Taurus back. 😂
