Tax Law Experts on No Tax on Tips Impact for Artists - EDM.com
#JournoRequest
I’m currently working on my next music business column for EDM.com exploring President Trump’s recently signed No Tax on Tips provision.
Starting with 2025 income, this new law allows workers to deduct up to $25,000 of qualified tips from taxable income (with a phase-out above $150k/$300k for joint filers). Treasury has previewed 68 occupations expected to qualify—including DJs, musicians, and digital content creators—but the final rules won’t arrive until later this fall.
For the piece, I’m looking to speak with:
🎵 Tax professionals
🎵 Business managers
🎵 Experts in tax law
🎵 Advisors who work with artists, songwriters, producers, and DJs
The story will break down what this legislation means for the creative community—what counts as a “qualified tip,” what doesn’t, the compliance pitfalls, and how artists can prepare for filing season. If you’re an expert or can connect me with someone who fits, please reach out at [email redacted].
