US Food Delivery Users Needed for NYT Culture Impact Report

Your responses can help as we report on the immense growth of food delivery and its effects on how we live. Food delivery has become a part of daily life for many. Nearly 40 percent of American adults have food delivered at least once a week, according to 2025 data from the National Restaurant Association. I once thought the rapid growth of food delivery was merely a pandemic-era trend — instead, ordering in has remained popular, particularly among younger generations. I’d like to understand how food delivery became so widely accepted, and what the cultural implications are. Why are so many people choosing delivery instead of going out to eat or cooking? Has there been there a rise in the ordering of single items, like a coffee, for delivery? How does this affect delivery drivers? If you regularly order food delivery in the United States, I’d love to hear from you. I’ll read every response to this questionnaire and reach out if I’m interested in learning more about your story. I won’t publish any part of your response without contacting you first, hearing back from you and verifying your information. And I won’t share your contact information outside the Times newsroom or use it for any reason other than to get in touch.
