Women Who Lived & Worked in Antarctica - Personal Stories

Women of Antarctica! Have you ever lived and worked in Antarctica? I'm looking to connect with women who have spent a significant period of time living and working in Antarctica and who might be willing to share their story with me. I've been doing some writing around women's experiences of Antarctica and have become increasingly interested not just in what women did while they were there, but in what drew them south in the first place — and what the experience ultimately meant to them. I'm interested in hearing from women across different eras, professions and roles including scientists, tradespeople, medical officers, station leaders, support staff, and others. I'd love to hear about what took you to Antarctica, what the experience was really like, the challenges and unexpected moments, the people and places that stayed with you, and whether the experience changed you or influenced the life you went on to lead. You don't need to have an extraordinary story or see yourself as an "explorer". I'm interested in the real stories — the funny, difficult, mundane, exhilarating and meaningful parts of being a woman in Antarctica. At this stage, these conversations are helping me explore and shape a potential book about women's Antarctic experiences.
