Adults Who Had Childhood Visions - AI & Lunar Age Politics

I had a conversation with an eleven-year-old last year about his view of artificial intelligence with Aden Van Noppen for (m)otherboard's "Youth Tell the Truth" series. https://lnkd.in/ePR242iP "It will not end well," Marcus said, "There will be giant black spots on the moon." I couldn't shake what he could see. I remember being that age, and having similar sentiments at the start of the first Gulf war. Adults didn't take me seriously. It wasn't about the short term implications. What I saw and felt in my body was astonishment, incredulity that the human species could even pursue such a plan to begin with. Blood for oil. For the next year, thanks to tagging along with Andrew's fellowship at the American Academy of Rome, I'll be sharing Marcus's vision of the consequences of the lunar economy to anyone I can find, and hopefully one day to the Pope himself.
