Arizona teachers: What are the biggest challenges you’re seeing with special education right now?
I’m a Phoenix-area resident who’s interested in getting into freelance journalism, and I’m researching a potential story about the challenges Arizona schools, teachers, and families are facing with special education.
If you’re a teacher, special education teacher, paraprofessional, school psychologist, therapist, administrator, etc., I’d love to hear from you.
What are you seeing in your school or district?
For example:
-Staffing shortages
-Large caseloads
-IEP implementation
-Evaluations taking too long
-Lack of OT/PT/speech services
-Behavioral challenges
-Inclusion vs. specialized classrooms
-Lack of resources or support
-Teacher burnout
-Communication with parents
Anything else you think people outside of education don’t understand
You don’t have to name your school, district, students, or any identifying information.
I’m mainly looking for patterns and experiences that could point me toward a story, not trying to put anyone on the spot.
If you’re comfortable sharing, please comment below or DM me. And if you don’t want to be contacted for a potential interview, that’s completely fine too.
Thank you! ❤️
