Mission update: BLAST OFF! premieres Fall 2027 on TELUS Optik TV, backed by TELUS STORYHIVE Voices. Here is the premise. Every episode, we grab our sketchbooks and hit the streets of Cochrane, Alberta, hunting for inspiration in the people who make this town tick. Back at the space station studio, kids draw along with me as those local finds get reimagined as characters, creatures, and buildings for our asteroid space colony. One drawing at a time, we build the whole thing together. No fancy tech. No apps. Just paper, a pencil, and an idea. Shot right here in Cochrane. A note for the space industry crowd. BLAST OFF! is built for kids in grades 3 to 6, and the sector is woven through the whole show. Every episode pairs a hometown story with a bridge segment featuring someone doing the real work in space. Astronauts, habitat designers, researchers, nutritionists, mission engineers, science educators. The show is designed to introduce a generation of young Canadians to the humans and the science behind space exploration, and hand them a pencil so they can start imagining their own place in it.
