Did your smartwatch, Oura Ring, Fitbit or sleep tracker become an obsession?
Hi everyone,
I'm a producer with SBS Insight, a TV discussion program in Australia, and we're researching a potential episode about obsession and self-tracking in modern life.
We're interested in hearing from Australians who use wearable technology such as Apple Watches, Fitbits, Garmin watches, Oura Rings, WHOOP bands and other health or fitness trackers.
This might include:
Constantly checking sleep scores, recovery scores, heart rate or HRV
Feeling anxious after seeing a particular result or health metric
Changing plans, routines or behaviour because of what your tracker tells you
Becoming increasingly focused on optimisation, performance or wellness data
Spending a lot of time analysing trends, graphs and scores
Feeling frustrated or uneasy when you're unable to track your data
Or having a wearable become a significant part of your daily life in ways you didn't expect
We're also keen to hear from people who feel wearable technology has had a positive impact on their lives.
At this stage, we're simply having confidential, informal research conversations to learn more about people's experiences and hear different perspectives.
If you're based in Australia and would be happy to have a chat, please email me at [email redacted] with a few details about your experience.
