🚨 THE SECOND SHIFT: A CINE-POETRY INVESTIGATION 🚨 (Watch with the sound ON. Share if you remember the Annex.) [THE FREEZE] They call it "Hold Harmless," but the grip was a vice, They froze the city’s pockets and they didn't think twice. While the suburbs grew green on a garden of gold, Our classrooms grew gray and our hallways grew cold. A political heist, a deliberate hand, To starve out the soil and then seize on the land. [THE ANNEX EXILE] Then came the "Experts" with briefcases tight, To "fix" what they broke in the dead of the night. They split up the brothers, they fractured the halls, And hid five hundred boys behind Annex walls. No gym for the jumpers, no stage for the play, Just a desk and a shadow at the end of the day. [THE CREDIT TRAP] The math started changing, a glitch in the gear, A roster shift error that cost them a year. Ninety-minute blocks turned to forty-five fast, And the credits they earned were the ghosts of the past. "Deleted," they told them. "Invalid," they said, While the dreams of a diploma hung by a thread. [THE PENALTY] Welcome to the Second Shift, the penalty prize, Waiting for the Night School bus with tired eyes. From Southwest to North, in the dark and the rain, Fixing a mistake that wasn't born in their brain. Quit the job, lose the check, leave the family alone— A "poverty tax" on the youngest and poor, While the men who designed it walked out of the door. [THE 2026 CYCLE] Now it’s 2026 and the cycle is back, A new "Master Plan" on the same broken track. They talk about "right-sizing" and "modernized" space, But the math shows they’re trying to erase a whole race. Sixty-eight percent of the target is Black— They push out the neighbors, then they never come back. [THE DEMAND] We aren't your lab rats, we aren't your data, We won't take a "maybe" or "see you all later." We demand Credit Amnesty, right here and now, For every young man who was broken by the plow. Stability’s a right, and the struggle is long— But we’re writing the ending.
