Cinema-Goers & Parents Needed – Sex Ed & FAFO Parenting – Indian Express

Attention cinema-goers and parents. I am working on two articles for The Indian Express and would love to hear from you. *Please note*: For these stories, I am not looking for inputs from mental health professionals or psychologists (PLEASE DO NOT COMMENT ASKING THE SAME). I will get in touch with those who responded to my previous story requirements. 1. Cinema as the first sex educator Based on a recent conversation with Konkona Sensharma, Abhay Deol and Dibakar Banerjee, I am exploring how Indian cinema has shaped the way regular people view sex. For many, the first exposure to the idea of sex wasn’t through parents or schools, but through films. I’d like to understand: -How has Hindi cinema influenced your perceptions of sex, intimacy, consent, and pleasure? -What is the gap between onscreen portrayals and real-life experiences? I’m looking to speak with intimacy coordinators, cinema-goers, and filmmakers. (I would also like to do a short video interview with an intimacy coordinator for our reels) 2. The rise of ‘FAFO parenting’ (F— Around and Find Out) This piece unpacks what the concept means, why some Indian parents are moving away from gentle parenting towards stricter, more consequence-based approach, and the impact it has on children. I’d love to hear from Indian parents and parenting experts on: -Why you feel this approach works (or doesn’t) -How you balance empathy with accountability If you’d like to contribute, please drop me a DM or leave a comment clearly mentioning which story you’re reaching out for.
