Colorado FAMLI Recipients - Return-to-Work Recovery & Policy Impact

After 12 weeks of medical leave, I'm back to work this week! In May, I had a hip augmentation/repair surgery... my second time going through this procedure. This time, Colorado's FAMLI program partially covered my leave, which meant my full-time job could be recovery. It meant my wife and I could focus on healing instead of scrambling to make ends meet. It meant peace of mind that wouldn't have existed otherwise. Here's just a glimpse of the process: learning to walk again, one step at a time. Recovery is rarely the highlight reel we want to expect, and it's taken a lot of hours in physical therapy and a reminder that resilience pays off. I'm back to reporting, but not fully back to my old self yet: I've still got about 6 more months before I'm back to the hobbies and activities that keep me active.
