Doulas & Midwives Billing Medicaid or Insurance - State Reimbursement
I'm building something I wish already existed: a state-by-state picture of how birth workers are getting paid, told by the people doing the work.
Over the past few months I've been sitting down with doulas, midwives, advocates, and policy leaders to understand where reimbursement actually stands. Not the headlines. Not an AI summary. What's really happening on the ground.
There are great trackers showing which states have passed Medicaid coverage for doulas and midwives. What they can't show is what happened next. Are birth workers actually getting reimbursed? Are the rates enough to sustain a practice? Is commercial insurance following, or is it still out of pocket? Where is it working, and where is it stuck on paper?
Now I want to reach every state. I'm looking for people who are:
- Doulas and midwives billing Medicaid or commercial insurance, or trying to
- Advocates and policy leaders working on birth worker reimbursement in their state
- People who know where the system breaks between "covered" and "paid"

If that's you, drop your state in the comments or send me a message. If you know someone who should be part of this, please tag them below. Your tag is a warm introduction I can't get any other way.
Every state has a story. I want to hear yours.
