Firms Offering Targeted Support - Expanding Beyond Cash-Rich Savers
The FCA describes Targeted Support as a “once in a generation change that will help millions.” With only seven firms currently offering it, we’re a long way off that vision.
Those seven firms (listed in my article below) have made a great start, but they're only really targeting cash-rich savers who’d benefit from investing.
Defining sufficiently granular consumer segments to advise isn’t easy. Still, I can immediately think of a few possibilities:
- People in their 30s who invest in their pension’s default fund: many would be better off in a higher-risk option
- Over 60s who aren’t in lifestyling funds: they may need direction towards de-risking
- Early retirees who have withdrawn more than 6% a year: they might need guiding towards a more sustainable figure.
Millions could still benefit from Targeted Support. I’d love to speak to firms with that goal.
