Gen Z Employees & Managers - Changing Workplace Professionalism
Hi everyone, for my upcoming piece for The Indian Express the focus is on a seemingly mundane work call that recently turned into a viral moment.
I am sure you've seen that clip of a Gen Z employee joining a meeting wearing a face mask and casually sipping from a tumbler. What followed was equal parts laughter, curiosity, and a surprisingly relaxed response from her boss.
It got me thinking about how much workplace norms are changing.
For my upcoming byline, I’m exploring how Gen Z is reshaping ideas of professionalism in the age of remote work, blurred personal-professional boundaries, and hybrid culture.
What feels 'normal' or even authentic to one generation may feel like a shift in decorum to another. And somewhere in between, managers are learning to adapt, negotiate, and redefine expectations.
I’m looking to hear from:
– Gen Z employees on how they view moments like this
– Managers (across generations) on how they are navigating these shifts in workplace behaviour and boundaries
If you have thoughts, experiences, or perspectives to share, I’d love to include them in my story.
Please feel free to DM me your WhatsApp number or comment below if you want to participate, and I’ll reach out.
Cheers
