(Visa) Problems while Studying in Berlin? We’re Investigating International Students Experiences
Are you an international student who has experienced visa-related difficulties in connection with studying in Berlin or did visa concerns prevent you from coming to Berlin in the first place?
We would love to hear from you and learn about your experience.
We are a research group from the campus radio Couch FM, currently working on a journalistic investigation into visa-related challenges affecting international students at IU International University and other private universities in Berlin.
We are looking to speak with:
students who are currently in Berlin and have experienced or are experiencing visa-related problems
students who have faced risk of deportation, delays, rejections, uncertainty about their visa or residence status, or difficulties with the authorities or the university administration
students who had to postpone or cancel their studies because of visa-related problems
students who decided not to come to Berlin in the first place, for example because they were concerned about the visa situation or what they had heard or learned about visa-related difficulties.
We are interested in hearing about what happened to you, what information you received, and how visa-related issues affected your stay in Berlin.
We will treat your information confidentially. If you prefer, we can discuss speaking on background or anonymously before any information is used in our reporting. We also welcome tips, insights, documents, or other information that could help us better understand the situation.
If you have experienced something like this, or decided not to come to Berlin because of visa-related concerns, please get in touch with us. Even if you are unsure whether your experience is relevant, we would be happy to hear from you.
Please do not post personal documents or sensitive information in the comments. If you would like to share documents or details, please contact us by direct message or via email first. We will discuss how to handle your information before using anything in our reporting.
If you have any questions or would like to share your experience, please feel free to contact us at [email redacted]
