Interview Subjects on Menstrual Silence in African Societies
Hi, LinkedIn family
I am working on a feature story exploring the culture of silence around menstruation in Africa societies. The unspoken rule that periods must be hidden, whispered, or not discuss at all. This story goes beyond cultural norms and myths. It's about how this unquestion silence shape women and girls’ menstrual experiences, body autonomy, access to health care, and long-term relationship with their body.
I am looking to interview:
1. Women and girls with personal experience (including those who have been diagnosed with PCOS, endometriosis, or have experienced menstrual disorder that went untreated due to stigma or cultural silence).
2. Psychologists.
3. Gynaecologists and reproductive health specialists.
4. Menstrual health advocates, NGOs, Gender Advocates.
If you are open to speaking with me, please DM me or email [email redacted]. Feel free to share with your network.
Thank you.
