K-12 Education Leaders - AI Adoption Lessons From Past Classroom Tech

I'm thrilled to be speaking at the annual Civics of Technology Project conference this week and looking forward to talks by Meredith Broussard, Jean Ryoo, Rafi Santo, Daniel G. Krutka, Marie Heath, Jacob Pleasants and many others. I'll be describing some of my reporting for The New York Times on school tech boom and bust cycles over the last decade -- and how these patterns can resemble infinite loops in computer programming. I recently had a terrific discussion with Alexander Russo about the current urgency for AI in schools and how it sometimes feels like we have collective amnesia about some past classroom tech crusades that did not exactly live up to their promises. And I'd love to hear from others on this: What lessons have schools and education leaders learned from past classroom tech cycles? How are lessons learned from social media's impact on kids and teens informing school AI adoption and AI literacy efforts?
