I live in such a supportive neurodivergent space that sometimes I forget how strongly the wider world still views our communities through a medicalised lens.
Even when I write from a neurodiversity perspective, it can be interpreted through diagnosis and deficit.
I’m currently working on an article and trying to be as clear as possible about my stance, my argument, and what I mean.
It doesn’t help that the term neurodiversity has been co-opted to refer to diagnostic labels, rather than the natural variation of human cognition.
Have you ever tried to discuss neurodiversity and found it’s been completely misinterpreted?
Let's reimagine inclusion together
