NJ Neurodivergent Residents - Thoughts on first responders and accommodations?
Hello! I'm a reporter for NJ.com working on a story about sensory care kits for first responders. I'm looking to hear from people with autism and other neurodivergent people willing to chat with me about their experience:
Have you ever been in an emergency situation involving first responders? (Police, Fire, Paramedics/EMS) If so, what was it like?
Were there ways that the responders were able to accommodate your needs? How could they have improved?
How could sensory kits for first responders — containing items such as headphones, fidget toys, sheets to aid communication — impact situations like these moving forward?
Happy to hear any thoughts. Please feel free to DM or reach out to my email - [email redacted]
Thank you!
