Nursing Students-Cardiff Insights on Declining Home Applications
Nursing students — what do you think is happening with nursing applications?
Hi ,
I’m a traineejournalist at Cardiff currently working on an article about decreasing Home student application numbers for Nursing at Cardiff University, and I’m trying to understand what people studying or working in nursing think might be behind this trend.
I recently came across some data covering applications over the past decade or so, and the decline in Home applications in recent years is pretty striking.
I’d really value perspectives fromcurrent nursing students, applicants, recent graduates, or lecturers.
A few things I’m particularly interested in:
Are fewer people actuallychoosing nursing, or are universitiesreducing places?
How much do factors likepay, workload, burnout, or public perception of the NHSinfluence people's decisions to apply?
Did thechanges to the nursing bursaryaffect whether people apply?
What areplacements and course supportlike at the moment?
If you’re studying nursing or are a graduate, or have recently applied, I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences or views. Please feel free to contact me - I just need a few comments to understand the wider picture behind the numbers
Thanks in advance for any insights.
