Park Slope Local News Story Ideas–Focus on Environment

Seeking story ideas for news reporting course! Hi! I live in Park Slope and I am a grad student at NYU studying journalism. One of my first assignments is to write a local news story. Coming here to see if anyone who lives in the area has any ideas of things going on that might make for a story. I am particularly interested in environmental journalism, so bonus points if you have any ideas related to climate/the environment (was thinking maybe something with the Gowanus, but it needs to be "news"), but it also definitely doesn't NEED to be environment-related.
