People Who Paid Irish Citizenship Firms - Misled & Still Waiting

Hi, bit of a weird one… I’m currently working on an investigative feature about companies that market Irish citizenship services to people with Irish ancestry, including those whose family connections may be too distant to qualify under Irish citizenship law. You probably know the sort of companies I’m talking about. The ones whose advertising makes an Irish passport sound remarkably straightforward, even when the reality can be rather different. I’m particularly interested in cases where people have paid thousands for assistance, only to spend years waiting for citizenship they may never have been eligible for in the first place. I want to look at how these services are advertised, what customers are actually promised, and what happens when things don’t work out. I’d really like to hear from anyone with experience of this. Have you used one of these companies? Do you know someone who has? Perhaps you’ve paid a considerable amount of money and been left feeling misled, or you’re still waiting for answers years later. I’d especially appreciate hearing from people who feel they’ve been taken advantage of, although I completely understand that discussing something like this publicly might be uncomfortable. I’m also interested in hearing from anyone with strong opinions on the subject, personal experiences, or information they think deserves a closer look. And if you think these companies provide a genuinely valuable service, I’d be interested in hearing that perspective too. Please feel free to send me a private message if you’d rather not comment publicly. Anonymity in the published article is guaranteed for anyone who requests it. I appreciate that this could be a sensitive or embarrassing experience to discuss, and nobody should feel uncomfortable coming forward. Any information, experiences or leads would be hugely appreciated. I suspect there’s quite a story here, and I’d like to hear from the people who’ve actually dealt with these companies.
