Some news and a #journorequest: This feels crazy to write this but I will be reporting from Mexico from January till around June. And, of course, I'll be on the look out for stories. 🇲🇽
In the past two years I've reported on wildlife electrocutions in Costa Rica, communities pushing through a climate resilience agendaonthe slopes of settlements in MedellĂn, former coca growers in eastern Colombia who have transitioned into a different crop, hiked Mexico's only long-distance walking trail, and covered how Jalisco, the Mexican state which reported the most forced disappearances, was trying to find missing people.
I am likely to be based in Mexico City but I will also be roaming around for stories and might potentially cross into neighbouring countries so feel free to pitch me even if the story is a 24-hour bus ride or two away (I will be minimising flights for environmental reasons).
PRs: I am looking for sustainability, wildlife, environmental, human rights and travel stories. Some of the above stories have come directly from PRs so there's a huge opportunity here for PRs to pitch me.
The above stories will give you an inkling as to what I’m looking for, as will my portfolio, which I'll link to below. My email can be found on my website.
Image: Working on a The Guardian story about Ana's rainwater harvesting system at her home, which like many informal settlements, is not connected to the water network (for years she had to collect water from a well about 30 minutes away).
