Real Estate Developers & Project Marketers - Branding That Scales

Over the last few weeks, I’ve been looking at marketing from two very different ends of the purchase spectrum. On one side:real estate and real estate development, where I’ve spent roughly 25 years working across sales, land, feasibility, project marketing and building. On the other: a tub of ice cream. The distance between those two products is enormous. The questions underneath them are surprisingly useful to compare. How does a buyer remember you in a noisy market? Which parts of the media around a product should actually survive the campaign? What should a company own, what should remain recognizable, and how does story create continuity when the product, project or market changes? My first three articles looked at content abundance, brand beyond the product itself, and the common visual grammar that now runs through so much digital media. The next three bring those questions back into the industry where I learned to think about scale in the first place: Real Estate Development. The first is now live: IF IT DOESN’T SCALE, IT WON’T SAIL Development, ownership and the media used to sell physical assets. The recent Dr. Bombay / Deel international taste-tester search became one live commercial application inside that broader study. I used the application to see what happened when original music, recurring characters, illustration, short-form media and cultural localization were carried across a completely different product category. I’m continuing to study that work because there is still a lot to learn from the people and brands operating at a high level across food, entertainment, consumer products and social media. If I’m selected, I’d be genuinely interested in seeing that side of the business from the inside. My professional centre of gravity remains real estate and development. What interests me now is the crossover: How do developers build recognizable identity around projects that may take years to deliver? How do consumer brands create memory across products that may be purchased again tomorrow? How does story create emotional connection? And in 2026, what media is actually worth owning? I’d particularly like to hear from developers, project marketers, brand operators and people working across physical products and places.
