The Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), enacted in 1976, is the primary U.S. federal law governing the disposal of solid and hazardous waste, aiming to protect human health and the environment. It establishes a "cradle-to-grave" system for managing hazardous waste from generation to final disposal, while also promoting resource conservation and regulating non-hazardous waste. "RCRA" provide The US EPA the power to regulate Waste Generators and the management of the waste generated through the creation, to transportation, to treatment, to storage and through final disposal or recycling. RCRA's purpose is for the proper management of both hazardous and non-hazardous waste, in an effort to have a lower environmental impact and effect on human health.
