Looking to speak to people affected by Ireland's rental crisis for an investigation piece
Hi everyone! I’m a journalist currently working on an investigation into Ireland’s “rental rat race” and the experiences of people trying to find and maintain a home in the current rental market.
I’ve already spoken to tenants, landlords and homelessness charities, but I’d really like to hear from people who have experienced the rental market first-hand and feel they have a story to tell.
I’d particularly love to hear from anyone who has:
Struggled to secure a rental despite applying for numerous properties
Experienced particularly difficult or unfair treatment from a landlord or letting agent
Been asked to pay an extremely high rent for a property that was in poor condition
Felt exploited by the rental market
Had to leave a home or move repeatedly because of rising rents
Ended up homeless or at risk of homelessness because they couldn’t secure or afford a rental
Experienced anything else you feel highlights the reality of renting in Ireland today
I’m very open to different experiences and perspectives, I’m interested in hearing the stories that don’t always get told.
If you’d be comfortable speaking to me, please feel free tosend me a DMand we can have a chat about the investigation and take it from there. I’m happy to explain more about who I am and what the piece is for before you decide whether you’d like to participate.
Thanks so much!
