Hi everyone, I’m working on an upcoming byline for The Indian Express on the experience of being a separated or divorced woman in India. What it truly feels like to rebuild life from scratch while navigating emotional upheaval, societal judgement, loneliness, finances, parenting, identity shifts, and the pressure to 'move on.'
Too often, conversations around divorce focus only on the legal aspect. But what happens after the separation papers? What does everyday life actually look and feel like for women trying to start over?
I’m looking to speak with:
• Women who are separated or divorced, who want to share their lived experiences
• Mental health experts who work closely with women navigating separation, divorce, grief, stigma, and rebuilding self-worth
Some of the themes I hope to explore:
– The emotional toll of separation
– Starting over financially and socially
– Loneliness, shame, and societal perception
– Parenting after divorce
– Dating and trust after separation
– Identity, healing, and rediscovering oneself
If you’d be open to speaking with me, or know someone whose perspective deserves to be heard, please comment below or DM me. #journorequest
