Survivors of Family Violence NZ - Coercive Control & Access Services
Survivors of Family Violence in NZ: What Do You Wish People
Kia ora all.
My name is Laura. I'm a survivor of DV and now work in the field of reducing the risk of harm to victims.
New Zealand has some of the highest rates of family violence in the developed world, yet many people still don't understand what abuse actually looks like behind closed doors.
I'm looking to speak with survivors for a storytelling and awareness project.
I'm particularly interested in hearing about:
Coercive control
Emotional and psychological abuse
Financial abuse
Physical violence
Barriers to leaving
Experiences with Police, Oranga Tamariki, Courts, Refuge, or support services
Life after leaving
Stories can be anonymous.
Most importantly, I want this project to be survivor-led and focused on education rather than sensationalism.
If you feel comfortable sharing, please comment or message me directly.
Ngā mihi.
Laura
