Hey everyone, Post pandemic, the concept of a third space -- a public place dedicated to community building -- pretty much disappeared, thanks to social distancing and the rise of quick commerce. With a X user recently complaining about laptops being banned from cafes in Bangalore and Gurgaon, modern day third spaces are embracing a shift towards welcoming, neutral environments that separate one’s home from their workplace. In this context, I am planning a story on the importance of third spaces, why they are essential for community and social well-being, and why they need a comeback now more than ever in this digital age.
