UK Adults Raised by African Parents - Generational Trauma Healing

Seeking Stories: Healing from Generational Trauma in African Households (UK-Based) Are you navigating the lasting impact of strict traditional African parenting, such as physical discipline, emotional manipulation, or heavy expectations of loyalty and sacrifice? I am a UK-based Master’s Journalism student (and member of the community) working on a nuanced piece about generational trauma in African families for my final project. Moving beyond stereotypes, this project explores the roots of these cycles, including colonial history and a lack of mental health resources and highlights those working to break them and heal. Who I’m Looking To Speak With: UK-based adults raised by African parentswilling to share how these dynamics have affected their mental health and adult lives. Individuals actively breaking the cycle(through therapy or as parents themselves) while navigating the guilt of setting family boundaries.
