UK Commuters - Season Ticket Costs & Financial Impact

Is commuting still worth it given season ticket prices? Hi Brits, I'm a journalist working on a documentary about British trains for an international audience. One of the things that shocked us during research is the extremely high fares, including for season tickets. We'd love to speak with someone about their commuter experience, how much they pay, how it affects their finances etc. Apparently some people are even considering moving back to big cities because it's cheaper/similar price to spend more on rent or mortgage but save on the commute?
